2025-09-18 | Razia Barsatie: at the Sankofa sculpture exhibition

Our fellow Razia Barsatie's work is a part of the Sankofa sculpture exhibition, curated by Annet Zondervan.

On September 21st, you can walk along the new Sankofa sculpture route in Singelpark with art curator Annet Zondervan from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. At the request of the "Art in the Singelpark" working group, Annet Zondervan has created a sculpture route featuring five striking artworks themed around Leiden's colonial past.

At each artwork along the route, a Leiden artist will perform an opening act in the form of dance, music, poetry, or a ritual act to connect the artworks with the city and the theme.

Meeting time is at 12:30 PM in Huigpark near the bicycle bridge, finishing just after 3:00 PM at the Morspoort. No registration is required. Joining later or walking part of the route is also possible.

The official opening will take place at 3:30 PM at the Wereldmuseum Leiden restaurant. Frank Köster, chairman of the Friends of the Singelpark Foundation, will perform the final opening ceremony at 4:00 PM, along with Alderman Yvonne van Delft.
